9 year old Sara has piano lessons on a weekly basis. I'm amazed at all that she's learned in such a short time. The instructor is a fellow homeschooled kid and is very relaxed and supportive of Sara's creativity. She practices the lesson she is supposed to, but she masters that fairly quickly and then she's on to composing new songs. She then performs them for her teacher who gives her praise (and sometimes a candy). She makes Sara feel special. It's so great! (Note to self: call to get the piano tuned!)
We signed up for this great math website this last week. Our kids were not understanding the way the school was teaching the math so we are needing to undo some of the confusion and restart on a good solid foundation. This website so far is helping us do that. Yay! My husband has been working with 10 year old Tanner almost every weekday for at least 30 minutes! I can't even begin to say how this one-on-one time is helping him. Aside from the math, the time he gets to spend with his dad is priceless. My goal is to work with the others for at least 10 minutes per day. One-on-one with me.
It is fall, so that means soccer is in session! WOOHOO! So we have practice twice a week and games on Saturday. Just Sara and 6 year old Jack are playing this year. Tanner decided to sit it out and 3 year old Luke isn't able to play until next year. I'm not quite sure what I would do if all four of them wanted to play at the same time....
I've been reading to the kids before bed again. I have found that I need to divide them up into oldest/youngest and the middle two in order for it to go smoothly. So I first read with oldest/youngest, then I'm off to the middle two. I have been pointing to the words as I read and Jack has really started to come along in recognizing the words when I point to them! Yay!
We have also signed Tanner up for Chinese School! It's on Sunday afternoons after church and he is excited. We are excited. He already knows how to write the numbers one through 10 and he's only attended one time! Pretty cool...
I have pictures and such from field trips that we've taken, but they're taking forever to load so that will be a different post.
Have you done anything this week that's new or interesting?
