DIY Bed and Bookshelves

Shortly after I was introduced to Pinterest, I discovered some do-it-yourself websites and decided to try a couple things.  My favorite site so far has been Ana White's website.  She is awesome.  She made a Farmhouse bed and I decided I liked it enough to try making it.  I want to make it in a king size, but thought I should test things with a twin.  It turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself...

Here are the boards:

Here are the boards cut from the Cut List that Ana provides in every plan:

And here is the almost finished bed:

I need to order the bedrail connectors and paint it, but it's pretty much done.  I am happy with the way it turned out so far.  I have also gained some insight into how I will do the king so that's good too.

I also made some bookshelves for my daughter's room.  Aside from my need of actual book cases, I wanted to make some shelves, that allowed the book to face out.  Kind of like "strewing" only they are strewn in the controlled chaos of the shelf.

And on the wall....

Can you see how stuffed they are?  And how many books I still have left over?  I love books!
