Hummingbirds

My daughter recently asked me if we could learn about hummingbirds.  So I ordered up some books from the library, printed out some free notebooking pages from The Notebooking Fairy and also Notebooking Pages.  These are awesome sites to check out if you are interested in learning about notebooking.  This is our first experience...  Here are some examples of what we did:

These pictures are from my 5 year old Luke:

He is learning how to color and cut.  I asked him the first question, he answered, and then he dictated the rest of the page to me.

On the first day my 12 year old, Tanner, wrote only a few sentences, but the next couple times he filled up the page...  I am still trying to figure this whole thing out.  There are many things that I think I would do differently, but overall I would say that for a first time, it went okay.

Here are a few pictures of the nest we made out of Mini Shredded Wheat, pretzel sticks and white chocolate melting wafers.

Construction

You can't really see the smallness of it with the material we used, but here is the finished product.  The eggs are TicTacs.  :)

The quarter is used to demonstrate the size.  Some of the books we read said that the basket of the nest is sometimes only the size of a penny!  Crazy!
