Run, run, run...

It's Tuesday. Today is "my busy day." I start out assigning the kids their daily work and trying to get   most of that done before leaving a little early so we can stop by the feed store and buy chicken food. Then Tanner, Sara and I head to Spanish class for 1.5 hours, then once again return home. Drop off Tanner and take Sara to piano lesson. Leave piano and run to the store for a couple things "real quick." Come home, drop off Sara, pick up Tanner and run off to soccer practice (thankfully my husband is taking Jack to football practice with Luke). That's a whole other addition to the running around). Phew!

I have a calm moment in the storm as I sit in the library writing this and waiting for a really WET soccer practice to end. I would like to say that it's only in the fall that my world is this busy but that's not true. If something drops off or ends, something else always pops up...  How does one slow down?

I have these great visions of waking early, before the kids, and doing a yoga video, and reading the Bible while sipping some tea...  This doesn't happen often enough. Usually on the opposite end of the day...

We have chickens, goats, parakeets, dogs, and cats, all of which need care and love. (Did I mention we also have coyotes waiting in the woods to snatch a stray...?) Of course that list does not include my husband and four kids (that I homeschool), who all take priority.  I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed lately. Well, basically since the beginning of the year. I don't know why I keep adding to my load instead of removing things...

I have been thinking a lot lately about giving away the chickens, goats, and parakeets... Removing the chickens and the goats would alleviate the stress of the coyotes.  Removing the parakeets would alleviate the stress of the cat trying to eat them (he already got one...). One of our dogs is a puppy who quite curious about all these interesting animals as well, and he already took out a retired chicken...

Things to think about!

What do you do to simplify when your life seems too busy?
